The 2018 Paris Auto Show kicks off in less than a month, but despite claiming to be the world’s largest automotive event, several important automakers have chosen not to attend this year’s edition.

Vauxhall along with Opel is one of them, according to AutoNews, which believes they should put more emphasis on their own events when it comes to launching new products, as the message gets sent out more clearly.

Speaking to the news outlet, one of the company’s spokespersons confirmed the decision. “We made the decision to put a stronger emphasis on our own events for the upcoming product launches”, he said, adding that both Opel and Vauxhall will return to traditional car shows “when it makes business and communications sense”.

Another reason that could stand behind Vauxhall/Opel’s determination to miss out on the 2018 Paris Auto Show could be the fact that they have no new vehicles to present, apart from the GT X Experimental Concept. Their lineup is fairly comprehensive, counting no less than three distinct crossovers, alongside a selection of cars that span between the B and D segments.

If you’ve been following the news, then you already know that Vauxhall & Opel, aren’t the only automotive brands that have chosen to skip the Paris Auto Show. Absent from the 2018 event will be, according to previous reports, Alfa Romeo, Fiat, Ford, Infiniti, Jeep, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Subaru, Volkswagen and Volvo.

It appears that Aston Martin, Lamborghini, McLaren and Rolls-Royce won’t have their stands at the event that will take place in France’s capital, either.
