Vauxhall has announced prices and specs for its updated Astra, with the highlight being a raft of new engines.
Not much as changed on the outside just revised front styling, including a new grille and front bumper, Under the bonnet there is a number of efficient new engines. The Astra still sits on a platform developed by old owners General Motors. For this reason, the Astra features bespoke engines.
This means the new engine choices include a turbocharged 1.2-litre petrol unit – producing either 108bhp or 128bhp – along with a 143bhp 1.4-litre petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel engine producing either 103bhp or 120bhp. More powerful unit will likely be added to the line-up in the future.
Prices start from £18,885 for the five-door hatchback, and £30,335 for the more practical Sports Tourer (estate) version.
As was the case with the pre-facelift Astra, a broad number of trim levels are available – including SE, Business Edition Nav, SRi, SRi VX-Line Nav, Elite Nav and Ultimate Nav.
Base spec SE grade cars come with a seven-inch touchscreen, 16-inch alloy wheels, air-conditioning and cruise control, with Business Edition Nav models adding satellite navigation, a leather steering wheel and a driver’s armrest.
SRi brings sports seats, LED headlights and automatic emergency braking, with SRi VX-Line Nav adding 18-inch alloy wheels, a sportier bodykit, gloss black accents and front fog lights.
Elite Nav versions bring a larger eight-inch touchscreen with digital dials, a heated steering wheel and heated leather seats. Range-topping Ultimate Nav cars are loaded with kit – including LED headlights, a Bose sound system, wireless charging and a parking pack.
Order books for the refreshed Astra open on August 1, with first deliveries expected in November.
