You may have heard that James May broke his arm last year while filming the show. Good news for all you sadists out there, because this is the episode you’ve been waiting for.
Episode 11, titled ‘Italian Lessons’, follows the trio as they buy used Maseratis with their own money and then drive them around the north of France.
Along the way, they encounter worrying noises, unusual electronics, a small engine fire, and – oh yeah – obviously watching James trying to drive with his unfortunate injury.
The tent itself is on the shores of Loch Ness in Scotland.
You’re probably wondering how James broke his arm. Was it in a stunning car crash? Maybe during a crazy stunt?
Uh, not quite.
Speaking at the Edinburgh International TV Festival, the show’s producer Andy Wilman explained: “[James] fell over the night before filming, coming out of a pub.
“He rang me up and said, ‘I’ve broken my arm’. His car was automatic so we stuck him on Eurostar, pumped him full of drugs and left him to it.”
