Fuzz Townshend and Tim Shaw are returning to National Geographic on Thursday (March 16) for a brand new series of Car S.O.S.

The show, now in its fifth season, follows the restoration work of mechanic Townshend and car-nut Shaw as they seek to return the vintage cars of unsuspecting owners to their former glory.

The latest season promises to feature some of the show’s best cars yet, including work on a classic Mercedes-Benz, Jaguar Mk.2 and a 1971 Fiat Dino. The first episode of the series is said to feature a classic Mercedes-Benz 230 SL, which has fallen into disrepair after its owner suffered a heart attack.

Both Townshend and Shaw have a wealth of knowledge in both motoring and engineering, with Townshend regularly writing for Classic Car Weekly and Practical Classics magazines, and Shaw hosting Fifth Gear and Britain’s Worst Driver.

Car S.O.S has been voted one of the UK’s favourite motoring shows, topping ratings for factual programmes on satellite channels during its third series.

Season five kicks off Thursday 16 March at 8 pm on National Geographic.
